What Happens When You Are on The Dangerous Fad and Really Low Calorie Diets….

There is a real danger when i comes to going on really low calorie and low carb/sugar diets.

In fact when I look back it’s how I stuffed my metabolism. ( I was once a no sugar/no carb idiot!!)

Here’s how it starts.

You think you are unhealthy and need to get this part of your life handled.

So you start looking at diets and go on a very low calorie diet, then read another book and switch to a low carb,no carb diet, paleo, no sugar, no gluten etc etc ..

Fast forward 6 months to 2 years and you now have intolerance’s you never had previously…. Gluten,dairy, sugar, fructose etc to name a few…..

I myself got to a stage where I could hardly eat anything without getting a rash and my body was becoming intolerant to everything I ate.

This is what happens when your body is under a lot of stress and is in survival mode.

You want your body to thrive, not survive!!! When your body is under stress it releases stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline putting your body into survival mode.

These are feel good hormones however this sense of well-being usually lasts 6-12-24 months before your body starts to uncover all the damage you have done..

When this happens you usually hear the gurus say you’re doing it wrong and you need to reduce even more calories, sugar, carbs etc…. They start to blame you not their diet….

So you do what you are told and reduce your calorie intake even more or eat less carbs/sugar which increases your stress hormones and you get another surge of cortisol and adrenaline to give you a temporary high…

Stress hormones make you feel great and provide you with a feeling of well-being but internally your body is under stress and starts to impair your thyroid function, suppress your metabolism which starts a shit load of conditions like I’ve listed below.

Edema ( Fluid Retention)

Cold hands, feet and the tip of your nose


Food intolerance’s

Skin/Hair Loss Problems


Decrease in immune system function

Trouble losing weight

Weight gain

Oestrogen dominance

Poly cystic ovary syndrome


Adrenal fatigue

So if you are experience any of these symptoms it may be time to examine your diet and lifestyle… That no sugar, no carb, low calorie diet may not be that healthy after all…..

Now you can’t help but have a decrease in your metabolic rate as you age… however you want to do everything you can not to speed up the decline in metabolism.

The good news is you can fix it by doing the opposite to what you thought was healthy in the first place….
